Golf Gloves
The golf glove helps you maintain a firm grip on
the golf club as well as offering protection and comfort to your
hand.
Rather than wearing a pair of gloves, right handed golfers wear
one on the left and lefties wear a glove on their right hand.
Occasionally you might run across all weather or winter golf gloves
that you wear on both hands but this is very rare. Other specialty
gloves offer comfort for those with arthritis in their hands and
wrists.
The only time you may see the professional golfers going without
a glove is when they putt. Many feel this offers them a better
"feel" when they putt.
What to look for:
Sizes
Gloves usually come in sizes from small to medium to large and
extra-large for both men and women. There are also gloves made for
children golfers. Don't simply buy a glove with out trying it on.
You want it to be snug but not to tight to limit your hand
movement.
Material
Leather
Like many other garments, good leather is often the best
buy for your money. A good leather golf glove will fit well [like a
second skin] while being soft and flexible to go with good
durability. Take good care of your leather gloves, drying them well
when they get wet, and they will last a lifetime.
Synthetic
Synthetic material can make an extremely lightweight yet
stretchy golf glove that offers good flexibility for your finger
joints as you swing a golf club.
All-Weather
If you play in an extremely humid or wet climate then
all-weather gloves will be your best option. Made from very water
resistant materials that are also very light, all weather gloves
can make a day on the course a delight. Some of the heavier or
thicker materials can also offer hand warmth and protection on
colder days on the links as well.
Winter
Winter or thermal gloves are a necessity for those who play golf
in the colder months of the year. Many of these gloves are made
darker colored, thermal or knitted fabrics that you do wear on
both hands to maintain warmth.
Rain
Rain gloves are made from various materials like micro fibers
and leather and have some method like tiny suction cups on the
palms to help maintain club grip on those rainy days on the
course.
