Golf Bags

Protect Your Golf Clubs

Golf bags are one of those pieces of golf equipment that can be worth their weight in gold!

A good golf bag can protect those valuable clubs and make them last a lot longer and look good as well. They can also be used to carry other necessary items like golf balls, tees, rain wear, umbrellas for sun or rain, water to stay fresh and hydrated and a myriad of other things to add to your enjoyment on the golf course.

There are some basic types of bags that you should consider when you go shopping.

Carry bags
Sometimes called "Sunday bags" as well These are smaller bags that won't carry your full complement of clubs but are great if you need something light or you only plan to work on a few clubs at the driving range. These bags normally don't stand up or allow you to carry a lot of tees, balls or other items. Figure out exactly what you want to carry and then look for the lightest bag that has enough feature to fulfill all your wishes. Don't forget to check out the padding and how it will feel as you walk around the course. And check out to see if you can grab the carry handle from where ever you are standing.
Stand bags
These are used to carry your full complement of clubs. This larger bag will have legs to stand on when you set it down. There are different variations on the leg configurations and how they stand up. These bags usually have divider compartments for your clubs and can usually carry balls, tees or whatever else you feel strong enough to carry. Since you still have to carry this type from shot to shot, you want to check out the weight when full and how the strap padding conforms to your body. You want to be as comfortable as possible when carrying it. And check out how easily you can grab onto the carry handle from any angle. Some bags come with double straps that allows you to carry it much like a backpack. And remember that harder sided bags will offer more protection for your clubs but will be heavier than the soft sided ones.
Cart bags
This type of bag is used by folks who don't walk and carry but use a riding cart or a pull or push cart instead. These bags are larger and can have up to fourteen dividers for your clubs. They offer a lot of pockets or stow away locations for items beyond balls and tees to water bottle/cooler pockets, umbrella holders, wallet holders and even extra putter pockets.

Staff bags
These are the "big boy" bags used by the professional golfers. If you have your own cart then you can leave this type strapped to it full time and you can carry everything you would ever want or need.
